Dr. Abdullah Al-Sawy

Background and studies

1. Born in the governorate of Asyut, in Upper Egypt, into a blessed family of the Qur'an known for trade and da'wah, he received his first education at an early age within his family, from his father, the educator and imam Al-Sawy Abdel-Rahim, known as the Sheikh of the town. His father had memorized the Qur'an from early childhood from his own father, who had learned it from his grandfather.

   ولد الدكتور عبدالله الصاوي في محافظة أسيوط بصعيد مصر لأسرة قرآنية مباركة، اشتهرت بالتجارة والدعوة، فتلقى الدكتور عبدالله الصاوي تعليمه الأول في سن باكرة داخل أسرته على يد والده المربي الإمام/ الصاوي عبد الرحيم (شيخ المدينة)، الذي كان يحفظ القرآن منذ نعومة اظفاره على يد والده عن يد جده

2. He memorized the Qur'an at a young age and studied in Al-Azhar institutes.

3. He graduated from the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University.

4. He holds a master's degree in comparative jurisprudence (2010) and a PhD in Islamic jurisprudence and its principles, usul al-fiqh (2017), both with highest honours.

5. He taught at Al-Azhar and served as a preacher with the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf.

6. He has been a researcher at a fiqh academy in the United States and at a research centre in Qatar, and a member of a curriculum committee at an Islamic university in Latin America.
