Eid

Eid al-Fitr closes Ramadan and Eid al-Adha comes with the pilgrimage season. Find the expected dates, the Eid prayers at the center and a few reminders to make the day beautiful.

A few reminders for Eid

  • Take a shower (ghusl) and wear your best clothes.
  • Before the Eid al-Fitr prayer, eat a few dates. For Eid al-Adha, wait and eat after the prayer.
  • Give zakat al-fitr before the Eid prayer, if it applies to you.
  • Say the takbir on your way to the prayer.
  • Go by one road and come back by another, and greet everyone you meet.

The takbir

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha illa Allah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa lillahi l-hamd. God is the Greatest. There is no god but God. To God belongs all praise.

The Eid greeting

Eid Mubarak! and Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum (may God accept it from us and from you).

Zakat al-fitr

Zakat al-fitr is a small gift of food, or its value, given for each person in the household before the Eid prayer so that everyone can celebrate. Ask us for the current amount per person.

Eid al-Adha and the day of Arafah

The day before Eid al-Adha is the day of Arafah, when pilgrims stand in worship. For those who are not on pilgrimage, fasting that day is highly recommended.
